TAS Charity Swimathon 2015 – Rosies

On Saturday November 14, TAS Swimming hosted a Swimathon for swimmers and students at TAS to raise money for the local branch of the charity Rosies – Friends on the Street.

Rosies is an outreach charity that operates 3 times every week, feeding the homeless. The Cairns branch was established in 1992. Trinity Anglican School already has an association with Rosies, with many of our senior students volunteering to help during the outreach evenings.
This year, students and swimmers at TAS attempted to swim as far as possible in three hours and raise as much money as possible to further support the great work undertaken by Rosies.

Collectively, all the participants covered a distance of 153.2 km which was a massive effort.

This is equivalent to swimming from the TAS Aquatic Centre south to Bilyana which is 22km north of Cardwell, or north to Port Douglas and return.

Well done in particular to Emma, Ella, Hayden, Adam, Flynn and Joel who all achieved 10,000 metres.
A cheque for all the money raised will be presented to a representative from Rosies on the evening of Friday 4 December.

Huge thanks to the “A Silly Sausage” for providing a BBQ for the hungry participants!
